18th Century Dutch Silver rectangular silver snuff / tobacco box with smoothly contoured sides and a flat bottom. The inside is fire-gilded and the lid is decorated with a beautifully chased classic representation of soldiers for a tent camp with begging women and a city in the background within a framework with Louis XV C-ornaments. The bottom and the lid are marked with the
Makers Mark FH under a crown of Francois J. Hourdoucq.
He worked in Maastricht between 1771 - 1811. There is no city mark or yearletter
